Abstract

The article explores religious parallels between theologian Thomas Merton's Advent 1949 journal and painter Fra Angelico's Annunciation fresco at San Marco. Topics discussed include description of how the San Marco fresco is positioned, how Fra Angelico painted the Annunciation and the role of Merton in people's own Advent journey.
