Abstract
This article from Australian Geographic discusses the resistance of Pemulwuy, a First Nations warrior, against British colonists in the area now known as Sydney. The arrival of the First Fleet in 1788 brought significant changes to the Eora people, who faced the incursion of white settlers onto their traditional lands. Pemulwuy led a series of raids from 1792, attacking farming settlements and fighting for his people's rights. Despite being wounded, Pemulwuy survived and continued to inspire others with his bravery and fight for his land and people. The article also explores the debate surrounding who killed Pemulwuy, but ultimately concludes that his place in history as a courageous and independent character remains unchanged.
