Abstract

This article reviews a recording of three works by composer Kurt Weill: *The Seven Deadly Sins* (1932-33), *New Orpheus*, Op. 15, and his 1924 Violin Concerto, performed by the Swedish Chamber Orchestra with soloists Wallis Giunta, Jennifer France, Katarina Andreasson, and Benjamin Herzl. The recording is praised for its high production quality and precise performances, though the reviewer finds the interpretation of *The Seven Deadly Sins* somewhat formal and lacking the rhythmic nuance typical of cabaret style. *New Orpheus*, a cantata sung in English translation, is noted for its poignant text and excellent orchestral and violin work, but the soprano’s pitch instability challenges listener accessibility.
