Abstract

The article "Sports and the American presidency: from Theodore Roosevelt to Donald Trump" explores the relationship between sports and the American presidency. Divided into three parts, the article examines how presidents have used sports as a tool of nation-building, the sports that presidents themselves have engaged in, and the relationships between star athletes and different presidents. The article highlights the influence of sports on American citizens and the political ramifications of presidential engagement with sports. It concludes that sports and the American presidency are closely intertwined and that studying sports can provide valuable insights into politics. However, the article notes that there is a lack of analysis regarding presidents' involvement with women's sports. [Extracted from the article]
