Abstract

The article comments on economist Bryan Caplan's paper about American philosopher and novelist Ayn Rand, entitled "'Sanction': The Triumph of Ayn Rand's Worst Idea." Topics discussed include Caplan's argument that Rand is responsible for much of the nastiness of the modern world's public discourse and moral intolerance, the main purpose of Rand's philosophy which is a life of happiness, and the view that people need more objectivity in relation to Rand's views on justice and moral sanction.
