Abstract
The article explores the strike by teachers and school principals in Saint Paul, Minnesota organized by the American Federation of Teachers in 1946 and its significance to the advancement of the rights of teachers and the responsibility to fight for public education in the U.S. It discusses the challenges faced by teachers prior to the strike, including poor working conditions, and their engagement in labor organizing. It describes the impact of the strike on schools across the U.S.
