Abstract
The article discusses the historical event known as the Boston Tea Party, which occurred in December 1773. The British government had passed the Tea Act, which made the British East India Company the exclusive tea seller to the American colonies. This angered many colonists who had been avoiding buying British tea due to high taxes and had been smuggling tea instead. In protest, a group of colonists in Boston boarded three British tea ships and dumped 342 chests of tea into the harbor. This act of defiance, along with other factors, eventually led to the American Revolution and the country's independence. The article also provides information about the individuals involved in the protest and shares some interesting facts about the event. [Extracted from the article]
