Abstract

The article informs that skyscrapers have long been predicted to become obsolete, with concerns surrounding their structural integrity and environmental impact. However the construction of super- and mega-tall buildings continues to thrive, with seven of the world's ten tallest buildings being completed since 2015. Building at great heights results in a significant material cost and environmental impact, with the carbon cost of taller buildings being greater than any potential carbon savings.
