Abstract
G. A. Loud's translation of The Chronicle of Arnold of Lübeck is a valuable source for understanding the history of the Crusades in Germany, Denmark, and Livonia during the late twelfth and early thirteenth centuries. The chronicle provides insights into Henry the Lion's pilgrimage to the Holy Land and the Christianization of Livonia. While the translation is of high quality, there are some issues with the edition, such as the lack of the original Latin text and unclear language choices. Despite these shortcomings, Loud's work is a worthwhile read for those interested in this period of history. [Extracted from the article]
