Abstract
The Berlin Wall, built in 1961, was a barrier that separated East and West Berlin during the Cold War. It was constructed to prevent East Germans from emigrating to the West. The wall was heavily fortified and guarded, resulting in the deaths of 140 people who attempted to cross illegally. Life in East Berlin was characterized by propaganda, limited freedom, and shortages. The fall of the wall in 1989 marked the end of Soviet control and attracted spies and military missions. Various daring escape methods were employed by those seeking to cross the wall. [Extracted from the article]
