Abstract

The article focuses on recent developments and notable figures in Joseph Conrad studies. It highlights Robert Hampson's critical biography of Conrad, tracing the author's life from his childhood in a Russian penal colony to his literary career, with new interpretations of his major works. It also notes a new Taiwanese translation of Conrad's *Lord Jim* by Teng Hongshu, commemorating the centenary of Conrad's death. Additionally, the article reviews Ian Burnet's *Dangerous Passage*, a maritime history book related to the region Conrad explored. Finally, it pays tribute to two prominent Conrad scholars, Professor William Bonney and Aaron Fogel, acknowledging their significant contributions to Conrad criticism and literary scholarship.
