Abstract
The article discusses the conclusion of negotiations for a free-trade agreement (FTA) between the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which includes Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland, and the Mercosur countries of South America. The FTA aims to eliminate or reduce duties on over 95% of goods exported to Mercosur by EFTA members over 15 years, facilitating trade in industrial and marine products. The agreement is a priority for EFTA and is expected to open a market of 270 million consumers to European nations. Negotiations, which began in 2017, faced challenges but have now progressed, with Brazil anticipating ratification during its presidency of Mercosur. [Extracted from the article]
