Abstract
The article argues that Israel uses leisure, pleasure, and culture as a form of hasbara to distract from and normalize its occupation and policies toward Palestinians. Topics include an obligatory tradition in Israel, the different meaning of "escape," two years after the Nova music festival massacre and amid genocide in Gaza, and indication that Israel has turned the pursuit of happiness into a political weapon.
