Abstract
This article examines the motivations and lifelong learning experiences of Jehovah's Witnesses engaged in door-to-door preaching in Ghana, using Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and Communities of Practice (CoP) as analytical frameworks. Based on qualitative interviews with 15 active members across diverse regions, the study identifies intrinsic motivation, autonomy, skill development, communal support, identity formation, and resilience as key factors sustaining their commitment despite social resistance. The findings highlight how the faith community functions as an informal educational environment fostering personal growth, social cohesion, and psychological resilience. The study suggests that faith-based organizations can enhance mentorship and training to support members' spiritual and personal development, and recommends that educators and policymakers recognize the educational and social value of religious participation.
