Abstract

The article focuses on the life and works of authors Lady Mary Wortley Montagu and Alexander Pope. Topics discussed include Wortley's youthful involvement in racing, literary criticism of "Epistle to Burlington" book by Alexander Pope, Pope's own immersion at a distance in York culture, and Pope invented a number of false identities to cover his assaults on Montagu.
