Abstract

The Indian government is procuring and installing 10 X-band Doppler weather radars (DWRs) in the northeast region and Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul and Spiti district to improve weather forecasting and monitoring capabilities. The radars will be installed at key locations in Assam, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh. The government has also completed the procurement process for an X-Band DWR for the Lahaul and Spiti district. These radars will enhance weather forecasting in the Himalayan region and contribute to better disaster management. X-band radars are known for their sensitivity and ability to detect smaller particles, making them suitable for cloud development and light precipitation studies. [Extracted from the article]
