Abstract
The article focuses on the Manhattan Project, a top-secret U.S. program that led to the development of the atomic bomb during World War II. Initiated in response to concerns about Nazi Germany's potential nuclear capabilities, the project involved significant scientific advancements, including the discovery of nuclear fission by researchers such as Otto Hahn and Lise Meitner. The culmination of the project was the successful detonation of the first atomic bomb, codenamed "Gadget," during the Trinity Test on July 16, 1945, which marked the beginning of the nuclear age. The subsequent use of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki resulted in massive casualties and ushered in a new era of warfare. [Extracted from the article]
