Abstract
This article focuses on the recent inauguration of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Centre in Enugu, Nigeria, which serves to immortalize Honorable Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nigeria's first President and a prominent Pan-Africanist. The Centre, a renovated version of Azikiwe's former residential lodge, functions as a museum-like archival facility displaying his personal belongings, writings, and memorabilia, thereby preserving his political legacy, ideology, and contributions to Nigeria's independence and African unity. The paper highlights the historical, educational, and tourism significance of the Centre, emphasizing its role in promoting good governance, national development, and cultural heritage. It situates Azikiwe's legacy within the broader context of African decolonization and notes the ongoing importance of such memorial projects in inspiring future generations and supporting research.
