Abstract
Senegal's main opposition party, the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS), has announced its support for Bassirou Diomaye Faye, a key rival, in the upcoming presidential elections. This endorsement could significantly impact the closely contested race, which includes 17 other candidates vying to succeed President Macky Sall. Former President Abdoulaye Wade, who now serves as the secretary-general of the PDS, stated that the party has chosen to support Faye's coalition. The PDS remains divided, with factions supporting both Faye and another candidate, Idrissa Seck. To win the presidency, a candidate must secure an outright majority, or the top two contenders will face off in a second round next month. [Extracted from the article]
