Abstract

The article reflects on a small group of thirty individuals gathered in Charles Town, West Virginia, near the site where abolitionist John Brown was sentenced to death for inciting a slave revolt. It draws a parallel between Brown’s 19th-century fight for freedom and contemporary efforts to challenge systemic injustice, poverty, and what is described as American fascism. Emphasizing grassroots activism, the piece calls for collective action without reliance on leaders or formal directives, framing this as a continuation of a longstanding tradition of resistance against economic and social oppression.
