Abstract

Former second gentleman Doug Emhoff has been removed from his position on the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, which oversees the museum dedicated to documenting the Nazi genocide during World War II. Emhoff emphasized the importance of not politicizing Holocaust remembrance and education, stating that divisive political decisions will not shake his commitment to combating hate and antisemitism. The Trump administration removed Emhoff and other individuals appointed by former President Joe Biden from the board, with the White House indicating that support for Israel would be a criteria for selecting replacements. Trump has also targeted other cultural and historical institutions to remove Democrats and Biden allies from leadership positions. [Extracted from the article]
