Abstract
The article clarifies a historical inaccuracy regarding the first black pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). It states that Dan Bankhead of the Brooklyn Dodgers, who debuted on August 26, 1947, holds that distinction, not Satchel Paige, as previously claimed. Bankhead pitched 3.1 innings in his debut and also hit a two-run homer. Paige is noted as the first black pitcher in the American League, debuting for the Cleveland Indians on July 9, 1948.
