Abstract

The article focuses on Malaysia Airlines' plan to modernize its narrow-body fleet by ordering up to 60 Boeing aircraft, including 18 Boeing 737-8s and 12 Boeing 737-10s, with deliveries beginning in 2029. The airline aims to replace older jets and achieve a modernized narrow-body fleet by 2030, addressing recent technical and mechanical challenges linked to spare parts shortages. Malaysia Airlines currently operates a short-haul fleet of about 50 Boeing planes and has also acquired Boeing 737-9 Max and Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, while continuing to pursue expansion of its wide-body fleet.
