Abstract

A literary criticism of the historical novel "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexander Dumas is presented. Topics discussed include the portrayal of lesbian relationships, the characters of Louise d'Armilly and Eugénie Danglars and the exploration of forbidden and gay love in Dumas' other works including "The Three Musketeers" and "Sarrasine."
