Abstract
The article discusses a new book by Edward Wong called "At the Edge of Empire," which explores the idea that China's current government under Xi Jinping is seeking to revive the Chinese empire. Wong argues that China's actions in Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong, and Taiwan are all part of this imperial ambition. The book also traces the parallel journeys of Wong and his father, who both experienced life on the periphery of the empire. Wong's personal experiences in Xinjiang and his comparison of Beijing's actions to the US wars on terrorism lend authority to his arguments. [Extracted from the article]
