Abstract
The article discusses the historical significance of the Powder House in Somerville, Massachusetts, and its connection to the events leading up to the American Revolution. On September 1, 1774, General Gage seized gunpowder from the Powder House, which provoked a gathering of patriots on Cambridge Common the following day. This event, known as the Powder Alarm, marked a turning point in the resistance against British rule and foreshadowed the outbreak of the Revolutionary War. The article also highlights the work of J.L. Bell, a historian and blogger, who has extensively researched and written about the events surrounding the Powder Alarm. [Extracted from the article]
