The Real DANGER at Yellowstone.

Abstract
This article provides an overview of hydrothermal explosions occurring in different parts of the world, such as Mount Ontake in Japan and White Island in New Zealand. It emphasizes the potential risks associated with hydrothermal explosions in Yellowstone National Park, which has a history of smaller explosions. The article explains that these explosions are caused by heated water beneath the surface, which creates high-pressure cracks. Scientists are conducting research to better understand the triggers and timing of these explosions in Yellowstone. A recent study published in GSA Bulletin reveals that Yellowstone Lake is more hydrothermally and tectonically active than previously believed, with numerous hydrothermal vents and active faults. The study also identifies evidence of past hydrothermal explosions, including the Mary Bay explosion. While it is currently not possible to predict future explosions, researchers are monitoring potential explosion sites and areas that could become hazardous if triggered by an earthquake.
