Abstract
This article focuses on a retrospective exhibition of Eleanor Antin's multidisciplinary art at Mudam, Luxembourg, highlighting key works from her career. Antin's early piece Blood of a Poet Box (1965–68) features blood samples from a hundred poets, referencing Jean Cocteau's film Le Sang d'un poète, while later works use her body and personas to critique artistic conventions and explore identity, gender, and performance. Her creations include photographic and video works such as Carving: A Traditional Sculpture (1972) and The King of Solana Beach (1974–75), as well as fictionalized alter egos like the African American ballerina Eleonora Antinova. In the 2000s, Antin returned to staged photography with her Historical Takes series, reimagining classical and mythological scenes in San Diego. The retrospective underscores Antin’s ongoing engagement with storytelling, identity, and the constructed nature of images and narratives in art. [Extracted from the article]
