Abstract

The article focuses on the life and legacy of Tareq Ismael, an influential scholar in Middle Eastern studies, who made significant contributions to academia and left a profound impact on those around him. Born in Iraq and educated at the University of Baghdad, he later moved to the United States, where he became a prominent figure in his field, publishing 38 books and numerous articles, often collaborating with his wife, Jacqueline. Tareq played a crucial role in establishing the International Centre for Contemporary Middle Eastern Studies (ICCMES) in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, organizing numerous international conferences that fostered dialogue on Middle Eastern issues. His life was marked by personal challenges, particularly the loss of his wife, which deeply affected him, yet he is remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and commitment to education and justice.
