Abstract
New research conducted by archaeologists at the Culloden Battlefield in Scotland has uncovered a range of artifacts, including a buckle believed to be from the shoe of Donald Cameron of Lochiel, a leading Jacobite who fought in the battle. The excavation also revealed large quantities of musket balls and grapeshot, indicating the intensity of the fighting during the battle. The findings are significant as they shed light on the events that took place during the battle and provide insight into the injuries sustained by key figures such as Lochiel. Additionally, a silver casket believed to have belonged to Mary, queen of Scots, has undergone conservation work and will go on tour later this year. The casket is considered a rare and spectacular piece of historic silver and has connections to one of Scotland's most famous figures. [Extracted from the article]
