Abstract

The article critiques the 2018 graphic novel "La vida es sueño," by Ricardo Vilbor, Alberto Sanz, and Mario Ceballos, adapted from the play of the same name by Pedro Calderón de la Barca. Topics discussed include the display of emotions particularly anger by the main character Segismundo through gestures, the theory of gestures acknowledged in superhero comics, and observations on the narrative structure and thematization of the graphic novel.
