Abstract

The Wright brothers, Wilbur and Orville, transitioned from bicycle mechanics to aviation pioneers, inspired by their childhood toy helicopter and the tragic death of German glider inventor Otto Lilienthal. In 1903, they successfully flew the Wright Flyer, a biplane powered by a petrol engine, for 12 seconds in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, marking the dawn of powered flight. The brothers' innovative design, including a hip cradle for the pilot and wing warping for control, revolutionized aviation and paved the way for modern aircraft. [Extracted from the article]
