Abstract
New York City is set to have its first professional soccer stadium in Queens, with a capacity of 25,000 seats. The stadium, which has been in negotiations for over a decade, received land-use approval and will be located near Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets. The project is part of a larger development in the Willets Point area, which includes the construction of 2,500 affordable homes. The overall development is expected to generate $6 billion in economic impact for the city over 30 years. The stadium is scheduled to be completed by the 2027 season and will be privately financed.
