Abstract

The article focuses on the Republic of Turkey's centennial anniversary and the challenges of reconciling its Ottoman past with its modern political values. Topics include the historical background leading to the establishment of the Republic, the reforms and secularization efforts by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the evolving political landscape in Turkey, including the influence of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and its stance on Atatürk's legacy and foreign policy.
