Abstract

The article provides an overview of significant moments from the 1924 Summer Olympics held in Paris, which was the second time the city hosted the Games. Compared to the upcoming 2024 Olympics, which will feature 32 sports and approximately 10,500 athletes, the 1924 event included 17 sports and 3,089 athletes. Notable achievements included American swimmer Johnny Weissmuller winning three gold medals and the historic rivalry between Jewish runner Harold Abrahams and Christian runner Eric Liddell, both of whom won gold medals for Great Britain. The 1924 Olympics also introduced several enduring traditions, such as the closing ceremony rituals and live radio broadcasts of the events. [Extracted from the article]
