Abstract

This article provides a review of several jazz albums. The first album, "Live in Montreal 1975" by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet, is described as enjoyable but not essential, with limited horn playing. The second album, "Where?" by Ron Carter, is praised as a great and fun record featuring Eric Dolphy and Mal Waldron. The third album, "Soul & Salvation" by Dizzy Gillespie, is criticized for being tasteless and uninspiring despite its all-star lineup. The article also briefly mentions two live albums by Brian Auger's Oblivion Express, commending their energetic and fiery performances. Additionally, the article discusses three other albums: "Live on the Blu-Jazz label" by Gillespie, "Four Classic Albums...Plus" by Lonnie Johnson and Victoria Spivey, and "The Fox" by Harold Land. The Lonnie Johnson album is a collection of four LPs made from 1946-1962, featuring collaborations with Victoria Spivey and Eddie Lang. The Harold Land album, originally released in 1960, is considered a classic of West Coast jazz and features the talented trumpeter Dupree Bolton. The Charlie Lavere album is a compilation of Lavere's small group sessions, highlighting his skills as a pianist, bandleader, and composer. [Extracted from the article]
