Abstract
The article focuses on the story of Polus, an ancient Greek actor, and examines how his personal grief and professional skill intersected on stage to blur the boundaries between real emotion and performance. It explores how Polus's enactment of his own loss in Sophocles' Electra raises questions about the relationship between acting and lived experience, the use of personal objects in method acting.
