Abstract
The article examines a U.S. Supreme Court case that questions whether the International Emergency Economic Powers Act gives the president authority to impose sweeping tariffs on foreign imports, a power used by President Donald Trump in 2025. It argues that the statute's wording, and constitutional structure show that Congress never intended to delegate unlimited tariff-setting power to the executive branch, especially since no comparable U.S. law uses similar language to authorize tariffs.
