Abstract
This article examines how digital games engage with and represent historical knowledge, focusing on the processes and challenges involved in crafting historical narratives within game design and production. It highlights the interplay between historical accuracy, authenticity, and player experience, emphasizing that game development is shaped by practical constraints, aesthetic conventions, and socio-economic factors. The article also explores how historical games function as forms of public history and cultural mediation, incorporating political and emotional dimensions while navigating the complexities of digital media and platform economies. Through case studies and contributions addressing game production, narrative strategies, and player engagement, the issue foregrounds the importance of understanding both the creation and circulation of historical content in games to better grasp their educational potential and cultural impact.
