Abstract

This article focuses on HarperAlley, the graphic novel imprint of HarperCollins, expanding its publishing scope from children's graphic novels to include adult graphic novels, manga, and manhwa. HarperAlley, which publishes about 50 books annually, plans to maintain this output while diversifying its readership. The imprint has promoted Andrew Arnold to vice president and publisher, alongside other staff promotions, to support this expansion. This development follows a similar move by Macmillan to launch an adult-focused graphic novel imprint, despite a recent 7% decline in comics and graphic novel sales.
