Abstract

The key mode of transport in the world today is diesel engines. Their key attractions are solid construction, simple servicing, and easy operation. However, battling the fossil fuel shortfall, we may not have the luxury of time to utilise its services. As a result, attempts are being made worldwide to develop unconventional alternatives for use in diesel engines. Likewise, the car industry has been underlined and lobbied for the production of new engines. This has contributed to the development of new combustion technologies. Several scientists have concluded that biodiesel is a promising alternative to traditional diesel fuel. Unlike standard oil, biodiesel is nontoxic, biodegradable, and sustainable, making it safer to transport. The primary objective of this study is to improve the efficiency of soy biodiesel fuel. In a four-stroke, single-cylinder, direct-injection diesel engine, the impact of soybean oil on engine output and emissions was investigated. Emission reductions in CO, HC, and smoke opacity were also observed, while NOx emissions showed a marginal increase due to enhanced combustion temperatures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
