Abstract
This review focuses on *Integrative Arts Psychotherapy: Using an Integrative Theoretical Frame and the Arts in Psychotherapy* (2022), edited by Claire Louise Vaculik and Gary Nash, which explores the development and practice of integrative arts psychotherapy. The book traces the historical evolution of the field, highlighting the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE) and its unique training approach that combines multiple creative modalities—such as visual arts, movement, drama, and music—within a client-led therapeutic framework. It presents theoretical foundations, including the six therapeutic relationship framework used by IATE, and offers case studies demonstrating integrative work with individuals, groups, trauma-informed clients, and online therapy contexts. The volume also addresses contemporary research methods in arts psychotherapy, emphasizing the value of art-based and qualitative research to capture the nuanced therapeutic experience.
