Abstract
The article analyzes the significant role of choruses in the plays "Henry V" by William Shakespeare and "Old Fortunatus" by Thomas Dekker in 1599. Topics include the similarity of the opening choruses of both plays, an argument that Shakespeare was likely Dekker's source for his play, and a claim that a volume of poetry and poetic theory by King James VI/I titled "Essayes of a Prentise" published in Scotland in 1584 was a potential source for Shakespeare's or Dekker's Chorus.
