Abstract

The article offers information about the discovery and development of penicillin, the first antibiotic. Before antibiotics, bacterial infections were often fatal, but the accidental discovery of penicillin's antibacterial properties by Alexander Fleming in 1928 led to further research by Howard Florey and his team.
