Abstract
US federal air safety investigators have found "no discrepancies" between a door plug that blew off Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 and the intact identical one on the other side of the plane. This finding deepens the mystery surrounding the explosive depressurization event. Both Alaska Air Group Inc. and United Airlines Holdings Inc. have reported loose bolts and signs of "installation issues" in some of their Boeing 737 Max 9 jets. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is prioritizing the investigation into the Alaska Air plane but has not ruled out expanding the probe to other Max 9 jets. The NTSB has determined that the door plug moved upward and 12 "stop fittings" holding it in place came loose, causing the blowout. Boeing has issued guidance to airlines on inspections needed to prevent another fuselage blowout and is committed to ensuring safety and quality standards. The FAA has temporarily grounded all Max 9 jets for safety checks, affecting 171 aircraft worldwide. [Extracted from the article]
