Abstract
Not coincidentally, when populism sank the Democratic Party under William Jennings Bryan, the beneficiaries were the Republicans, both the conservatives and the progressives. ARTICLES THE political theorist Yascha Mounk once worried that the "populist moment" would "turn into a populist age - and cast the very survival of democracy in doubt."
