Abstract
Egypt's Suez Canal Authority reported that 47 ships have returned to using the waterway since the beginning of February, following a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that led Yemeni rebels to reduce attacks on Red Sea shipping. The decision to use the canal instead of the longer Cape of Good Hope route was made by the vessels, according to SCA chief Osama Rabie. The return of stability in the Red Sea region is anticipated, with hopes for a gradual return to normal traffic by late March and full recovery by mid-year if the Gaza ceasefire remains in place.
