Abstract

The article discusses US bank regulators' request for public input on banking operations, capital requirements, and the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) rules as part of a regulatory review. The Federal Reserve, along with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, has opened a 90-day comment period following the publication in the Federal Register. Proposed changes include rescinding a Biden-era CRA rule aimed at addressing redlining and enhancing lending in lower-income areas, as well as plans to modify the enhanced supplementary leverage ratio, a key bank capital rule. This review is mandated by the Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act, which requires updates to outdated regulations at least once every decade. [Extracted from the article]
