Abstract

The article focuses on recent developments and events involving Great Lakes vessels and maritime operations. It reports the return to service of the 1943-built self-unloader Cuyahoga after extensive engine repairs following a fire, and highlights restoration projects for historic vessels such as the tugboat John Purves and the passenger ship Keewatin. It also covers incidents including groundings of commercial vessels like the NACC Argonaut and American Courage, as well as passenger vessel Goodtime I’s loss of steering. Additionally, the article details new vessel deliveries, including the LNG bunker barge Clean Everglades and Algoma Central’s acquisition and renaming of the tanker Algoluna, and notes the commissioning of the U.S. Navy’s Freedom-class littoral combat ship USS Marinette.
