Abstract
The article focuses on Bill McKenzie's recollection of working as a sailor on the Saskatchewan River. Topics include how McKenzie, who grew up to be called Steamboat Bill, knew that he will be a sailor when he was eight-year-old, writer Deanna Christensen's interview with McKenzie in 1974 wherein the sailor shared the tales of his youth working the waters, and the introduction of steamships to the Saskatchewan River in 1874.
